Shinrin Yoku literally translates to ‘forest bathing’. But instead of bathing in water we experience it with all our senses. Shinrin Yoku practice was formed in Japan in the 1980’s, where the overly crowded cities show a big increase in health issues like burn-out, high blood pressure and heart diseases. There have been several studies and experiments showing that nature contributes to a healthy lifestyle.
There have been several studies and experiments showing that being in a forest decreases stress hormones, lowers blood pressure, improves sleep, improves nk cells and improves your immune system.

We perceive the world through all our senses. Consciously and unconsciously, we process all the stimuli we take in every day. As we go about our daily lives—working, engaging in hobbies, and socializing—this increasingly happens through a screen. Living in a city, where we are constantly “on” and easily distracted, makes us more susceptible to overstimulation. When you are constantly overstimulated, it can have negative effects on your health. Think of a computer that runs all day—it also needs to recharge from time to time in order to keep going.
Nature Connectedness plays a crucial role in this. Nature nourishes us in a gentle way, brings calm to our bodies, and reflects our inner soul. But how do we maintain this connection, and what benefits can it bring you?
I would love to share this experience with you as your Shinrin-yoku guide.
